When East Meets West
Love your neighbors as you love yourself...
There is a beautiful story about The Infinite One in the Hindu literature. When they say Shiva, it means he who is not. He’s considered to be Mahadeva or LORD of Lords. Different name for them same principle/person/ archetype.
There was a festival coming up to celebrate Mahashivratri, a holiday Venerating The Infinite One. A rich man decided that he was gonna build a great temple for Shiva, all the finest of fineries and fairest of maidens, and Shiva would surely come. So he built the temple. Shiva did not come lol
When he did not come the Rich man got š” he went and said where do he go... he heard he went to such and such place... I don’t remember his name... so he went to where this šØ lived and he saw nothing but a little hut. He was infuriated, he walked up to the man and said are you such and such and the old beggar said yes I am he. He said where is your Temple, I don’t see your temple... and the man responded... oh Sir I don’t have much, but I built a temple inside of me and it’s so wonderful and Shiva came and saw it.
Sutra _[S_u_t_u_r_e]_
Acts 17:23-28
23 For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you.
24 God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;
25 Neither is worshipped with men's hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;
26 And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;
27 That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us:
28 For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.
I think it’s all very lovely. The Temple is inside yourself... see what we learn when we share.
